Phase One Exhibition
The first exhibition of the 10th Touch Art Festival will kick off on October 16, 2024. This unique and heartfelt art event will showcase wrapped art pieces created by both blind and sighted individuals.
In this exhibition, using SAORI fabric as a medium for wrapped art allows for the integration of both perspectives. The freely woven fabric brings a unique texture and color to each piece. Every participant contributes their emotions and stories to the artwork through the tactile experience of touching and feeling the textures during the wrapping process. This is not just an act of artistic creation; it is a deep form of communication and understanding. Each piece carries the creator's voice and experiences, allowing the audience to feel the power of art through touch.
Art has always been a window to the world, and it relies not just on visual perception. For blind artists, the creative process primarily depends on touch and hearing. They focus more on the texture, weight, shape, and sound of the materials, using touch and sensation to understand their properties. They employ various tactile techniques to explore the texture of SAORI fabric, and their creations are informed by these tactile experiences. This unique
approach adds different emotional layers to the artworks. The profound experiences gained through touch enhance the emotional depth and inner feelings conveyed in their works. Their pieces often communicate unique emotional depth and personal stories, giving each artwork a strong sense of individuality.
Through this exhibition, we hope to enhance societal awareness of inclusivity and diversity, allowing everyone to find resonance in art. This is an opportunity for us to cross boundaries together, to experience the stories behind each touch and to engage with narratives that cannot be seen with the eyes.
